School Youth Club

The Greek School of Glasgow is based within the Cathedral's premises. There are classes for adults that operate every Saturday; for further details visit the Greek School of Glasgow website. The Greek School employs 2 teaching staff, while its academic administration and general running is carried out by the School Director. One of the teaching staff is normally appointed either by the Greek or Cyprus Educational Missions.

In addition to the Greek language, pupils are also taught religious history, the history of Greece and Cyprus and also elements of geography of these two countries. Pupils are normally presented for the GCSE examinations in Modern Greek, while the most able ones may take lessons leading to the GCSE in Modern Greek or the Scottish Standard Grade in Classical Greek. There is also an active Youth Club where attention is paid to cultural themes, such as traditional dancing. The Club stages from time to time theatrical performances and it is invited to exhibition dancing at various events.

The two groups are served by the following:

Nondas Pitticas - School Director

Thanasis Biniaris - Teacher (appointed by Greek Educational Mission)

Kaiti Theohari - Teacher

Rev Constantine Papageorgiou - Religious History & Studies

Dora Scholarios - Youth Club Leader
